About
The Be Resilient Citizen Science Programme aims at supporting UNESCO Biosphere Reserves to setup and manage active Citizen Science monitoring programmes.
Started in 2021, the programme has gradually expanded, covering a growing number of Biosphere Reserves and involving a large number of citizen scientists to monitor environmental conditions, support social learning and joint identification of challenges.
Aim
The Be Resilient Citizen Science Programme uses a large number of different tools and methods to monitor its environment and identify key challenges that need to be addressed, as indicated in the infograph.
It cover both water quantity measurements and water quality measurements, using chemical and biological assessment methodologies. In combination, it offers a comprehensive overview of the state of the freshwater and environmental conditions in the Biosphere Reserve.
How to participate
Citizen scientists can participate through engagement with the Biosphere Reserve managers.
