The Trifinio Fraternidad transboundary biosphere reserve is a tri-national biosphere reserve located between El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. It is the first transboundary biosphere reserve in Central America and represents a major contribution to implementation of the Mesoamerican Corridor. Ramsar Sites are wetlands considered to be of international importance. The international convention which forms the basis for their identification is commonly referred to as the "Ramsar Convention" after the city in Iran where the convention was signed in 1971. The Convention is an intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.There are currently over 2,200 Ramsar Sites around the world. It displays boreholes assessed by WASH focal points in different refugee sites and provides information on different types of pumps that are used, the depth in meter and the energy source. This layer presents wastewater discharge points where comprehensive studies indicate whether or not the discharge adversely affects the environment. In 2012, 6.1% of discharge points had been studied, out of which 1.3% were affecting the environment. Such information was provided by Member States to the Commission. Those data were collected from the reporting of European Union Member States, as part of the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (UWWTD) implementation. The Directive concerns the collection, treatment and discharge of urban waste water and the treatment and discharge of waste water from certain industrial sectors. Return flow ratio measures the percent of available water previously used and discharged upstream as wastewater. Higher values indicate higher dependence on treatment plants and potentially lower water quality in areas that lack sufficient treatment infrastructure and policies. Arid areas with low water use are shown in grey, and scored as low stress when calculating aggregated scores.
