Management (CliMWaR)\r\nIn view of increased threats of climatic

variability and change occurring in Africa, Latin America and the

Caribbean (LAC), effective climate risk management is essential to

strengthen the capacity to manage the water resources in these

regions, through networking and by facilitating international and

regional cooperation. This will be achieved by developing pilot

experiences and engaging with regional partners in these regions to 
            
27
upscale these experiences to the regional level.\r\n\r\nThe overall 
            
28
objective of the project is to provide reliable climate services to 
            
29
monitor and forecast droughts and floods at the local level to improve 
            
30
national risk management strategies and to lower the impact of 
            
31
water-related hazards on vulnerable communities through improved 
            
32
communication and outreach in pilot regions of LAC and Africa, with 
            
33
particular attention to climate change vulnerabilities.\r\n\r\nThe 
            
34
project has four specific objectives:\r\n\r\n* Support the development 
            
35
of climate services for flood and drought management, embedded in 
            
36
national and subregional contexts\r\n\r\n* Provide capacity building 
            
37
to national and regional stakeholders to transfer the knowledge and 
            
38
technology for climate services\r\n\r\n* Engage with high level policy 
            
39
makers to identify opportunities to develop more proactive drought and 
            
40
flood risk management policies\r\n\r\n* Empower the local communities 
            
41
with the actionable, timely and relevant information for climate 
            
42
informed decision-making using a participatory, citizen-science
